Tinghu Zhang

Senior Scientist, Gray Labs Stanford University

Dr. Zhang is a senior scientist at the Cancer Institute of Stanford University. Prior to joining Stanford, he served as a lead scientist and chemistry group leader at the Center for Protein Degradation at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Zhang is a globally recognized expert in medicinal chemistry and chemical biology, with research focused on covalent inhibitors and targeted protein degradation modalities.
Dr. Zhang has made significant contributions to drug discovery, notably through the development of first-in-class covalent inhibitors targeting various kinases and transcription factors, including CDK7, CDK12/13, and TEAD. He is also a pioneering figure in the field of protein degradation and molecular glues. His recent involvement in the design of TCIP molecules—transcription rewiring agents acting through BRD4, CDK9, and BCL6—has introduced novel mechanisms for proximity-induced glue molecule design.
